Established in 2000 by Susie Doyle, Mary Barry’s has gained a high reputation, the menu has grown considerably, in choice and quality, it is currently one of the leading seafood restaurants and a finalist in the regional ‘best gastro pub’ awards.
Fresh catches landed ashore at Kilmore Quay are sourced from Stella Maris Seafood Company and Seaview Fish before being taken to Mary Barry’s.
The business helps the fishing industry where people can experience a working harbour at Kilmore Quay, watch the fishermen land their catch and follow the trail towards a delicious meal.
Fresh and smoked salmon comes from the award-winning Duncannon Fish Company.
Susie’s partner, Alex Scallan who is a fisherman himself, also advises on the selection of prime seafood for the restaurant.
While Mary Barry’s prides itself on its unique seafood experience, other dishes are available too, with Slaney Valley lamb, Wexford Hereford beef and steak from Kavanagh Meats, Enniscorthy, poultry and game, and delicious strawberries in season from Greenhill Farms, near Enniscorthy, all in brisk demand.
The energetic kitchen and floor crew at Mary Barry’s trade on quality and loyalty to local producers with 90% of all produce used coming from Co. Wexford. Susie stresses that the hard work and team effort of the staff has contributed greatly to making Mary Barry’s the success it is today.
It is a family friendly destination with an enclosed Beer Garden which has a safe children’s play area and a bouncy castle. There is outdoor music during the summer (weather permitting) and every Wednesday is Piano Night, with live music also on Friday and Saturday nights.
